Hello! I’m Shelley James, the heart and soul behind Palette Studio. After half a decade in a global corporate practice, I yearned for something more personal, a platform where I could connect more intimately with clients, project teams, contractors, and artisans. This longing led to the birth of Palette Studio a little over a decade ago.
From the get-go, I envisioned Palette Studio to be a unique space, making expert design advice and guidance more accessible without the intimidating contracts. I aimed to offer our services in manageable, digestible packages, taking the stress out of what can be an overwhelming experience.
My mission? To dispel the myth that building has to be a stressful ordeal. I thrive on discovering hidden potential in existing homes and love the connection this work fosters. Mutual respect forms the cornerstone of my practice.
You’ll often hear me tell clients, “Take things slow, allowing time for the design to evolve” or “Embrace the journey; there’s no need for fear or stress.”
When I’m not immersed in sketching (a passion I still adore), at a site, or perusing showrooms and Pinterest boards, I’m enjoying precious moments with my two beautiful daughters. Whether it’s a walk in nature, a school run, a quick grocery shop, a Pilates session, or bird-watching in my lovely garden, I strive to maintain a balanced life.
