This property has the most magical garden vista , which was only visible from the lounge space .
The living space was made up of a series of rooms with a dark linking passage. Our immediate concept was to break through these layers, reorganise the flow and allow for garden vistas and connections. The entrance was a small tucked away opening, which we chose to extend outwards and to celebrate in a new form and welcoming entrance space.
The new bar is seamlessly connected to the covered patio and the dining room , pushed out into the existing covered patio.
By removing the passageway walls and integrating the space into the main lounge, we were able to achieve views from the kitchen at the back of the house through to the garden lawns.
By using a series of steel framed arch way openings, the spaces could be demarcated and enclosed yet allowed for transparency.
An old safe room at the back of the home, was transformed into a wine cellar , and became a focus area in the games room . We retained the old safe door , bringing some original character to the home.
